I am excited to say that my concept, logo and color scheme was chosen for the Comm Arts Senior Show of 2018. The idea is to show the difference between individuals in the comm arts department through using various shapes and layers. After crowd sourcing the shapes, I started playing around with different logo options until I landed on a modern and exciting typeface. My favorite part about this project is how the shapes become apart of the identity; no matter how large or small you make them they still work well conceptually.
The Witching Hours
This is a concert poster and promotional campaign for concert presenter The Witching Hours. I used gradients and a contrasting color pallet to create a visual where different bands of different genres could live on one platform. I used a square format for bands to be able to promote the event on the digital platform Instagram. I also created a poster that would be used for print.
Andrew St. James
Andrew St. James is a talented Indie musician from San Francisco, California whom I've had the pleasure of working with. For his album The "Big Ol Veronica Apology Record," I wanted to evoke his vibrant sound through my color usage and the sense of a false apology through my image and its treatment. I used flowers as a homage to the classic apology tactic, but warped them to show deception (because the album is a satire).
This book is a personal manifesto surrounding my methodology in design. The name derives from hurtz: the music sound wave. Because music inspires my design in nearly every aspect, I wanted to create a book that explains how and why music motivates me. The book is 135 pages and is my favorite work of art. Apart from a few found photos, the entire book is created by me.
Punta Mita Collection
While working under the advertising agency TRUFFL I branded the luxury hotel collection PUNTA MITA. The collection contains four different hotels scattered along the coast of Punta Mita, Mexico. I created a branding and identity system that would remain constant throughout the hotels.
My senior thesis revolvs around the relationship between music and typography. Within this self-created publication, I explored the many different areas where music and typography interact with one another. My favorite thing about this book is that I was given the freedom to research whatever I pleased and show my findings through a publication. I had a lot of fun creating this book.
